Amphitheatre at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus, 1053 Carling Avenue, Ottawa
Welcome to a buffet of speeches and evaluations that will enrich and entertain you. This is a great opprtunity to learn through participation and observation. We are looking for 20 speakers to deliver speeches from the Toastmaster manuals. Speeches will be delivered in 4-5 streams of different themes (examples are Travel stories, "How-to" speeches, Inspirational speeches, Entertaining speeches, Informational speeches, and "Your-choice" speeches).
We also invite evaluators to come and practice their craft. Guests are also welcome to join us and enjoy the atmosphere and snacks.
Have you ever seen someone deliver a Timer or a Grammarian report that left you asking - How did they come up with that? Their style and verve, turns even these so called minor roles, into a powerful mini speech. By taking each role seriously and preparing well for it, one gains what I consider is the most important element for good public speaking - confidence. In my opinion, confidence is what separates the good speakers from the rest. Each time you complete a role well in our Toastmaster meetings, you take a step towards becoming more confident and a better speaker. So take on a role, any role, and be great at it!
Part of the Toastmasters learning experience is the art of getting your thoughts across within the allotted time. The Timekeeper role is meant to track and report on use of time.
